Suggestion Sunday - Roll 1d8+1, tag that many friends and suggest a new RPG to try.
I won't actually tag anyone here as enough of them will see this on the Tavern or Twitter. The game I'd recommend trying is City of Mist. It's a crossover of noir and mythical powers, something I usually describe as 'Netflix Marvel'. The system is the lovechild of Powered by the Apocalypse and FATE and flows really well in play. I've run it multiple times at conventions and it's always landed well.
The Starter Set (even in PDF) is excellent; you can't create new characters but you get some great example ones and the key rules are all there. When I run at cons, I tend to use the Starter Set rules as a reference. There are plenty of scenarios available and a host of pre-generated characters. It's beautifully illustrated and the writing is clear and evocative.
The full core rules are great; if you do get them, you can chose how powered the Rifts (players) you create are. Each has four themes; some are powered (Mythos) and some reflect their normal identity (Logos). A low powered game could have a single mythos theme, whereas a higher powered game would have characters with three themes.
It's a great game, which I commend to you all.
