Gaming Plans 2021

I've learnt the folly of writing plans for gaming as the best laid plans of mice are often ambushed, however, here's my thoughts.

GMing

Continue to run Curse of Strahd for D&D 5e. I don't think we'll complete in 2021 at the present rate (unless we end up with a TPK and everyone wants to give up). Ideally, I'd like to go weekly with this as I find it hard as a GM when we end up missing a session, but that doesn't match what the players can commit to. It's a wonderfully dark campaign that the sandbox style enables the characters space to breathe.

Set up a short campaign of Elysium for Mutant Year Zero. I really liked this setting and would love to set up a short sequence of games within the setting. Need to find players first.

Other potential campaigns include something Traveller, perhaps Hard Times or alternatively the Milieu Zero setting I wrote years ago. 

I also want to set up the City of Mist campaign (Nights of Payne Town) when it finally arrives. Realistically that would be the end of the year as I suspect it'll need a bit of preparation.

I may run some games for the kids, probably Mausritter or possibly one of the introductory D&D setting campaigns around Phandelver or in the Grendleroot.

Edit: I'm also somewhat tempted to set up an informal Castle Xyntillan game. This would be an 'as-and-when' game that people could just drop into and try and explore the castle as a living dungeon. It's written for S&W but I may be tempted to use the Black Hack or Heroic Fantasy. Or maybe the Blue Hack.

Playing

This year, I'm playing Richard Lock's take on the Gumshoe Trail of Cthulhu campaign "Eternal Lies". This has been on my bucket list to play or run for a long time so I'm excited that I can get a chance. It'll probably run for 50+ sessions. Richard is a great Gumshoe GM - he's run all the Esoterrorists games for us so I'm really looking forward to this.

I'm also in a short run through of Viscid, the Delta Green scenario with him. It'll be interesting if we survive.

I hope to return to Graham's Coriolis game when Strahd comes to a break. I may also rejoin Jag's Enemy Within game if it restarts, despite my dislike of WHFRP as a system.

Writing

I need to complete the layout for Tripod Essentials for Graham. That's the Wordplay reboot.

I need to complete 'This Fear of Gods' for Traveller and lay it out - this one has been around for far too long. If I can get the template right, I can also resurrect the old BITS adventures.

I've also started fiddling around Singularities again, but I suspect I won't get near finishing that.

Conventions

Organise Revelation and North Star online this year. Hope that Furnace goes ahead (but we'll probably need confirmation from attendees that they are vaccinated or to understand if they're medically vulnerable).

I think that is more than enough and I suspect that the list will break the moment reality hits it.
